Online Attendance Training Course

The brief 

To transform face-to-face training to an online training course for teachers and school staff.  The course provides an overview of the legal requirements of marking student attendance, as well as a step by step guide to using eMinerva—the attendance software used in over 140 primary and secondary schools in South East Queensland.

 

My role

As the senior designer and developer, I:

  • led the engagement with stakeholders, subject matter experts (SME) and education officers
  • co-facilitated SME workshops to establish user insights, intended learner outcomes and course architecture
  • developed wireframes, storyboards and prototypes
  • led the design and course development
  • conducted user research and testing
  • produced instructional videos
  • led vendor management for the animations, videos and voice overs
  • managed the project from conception to publication.

Outcome

A responsive online training course for teachers and school administration staff responsible for marking student attendance. It provides a 'just in time' model of training for early career teachers as well as teachers needing to brush up on their skills. The course incorporates visual learning, interactivity, knowledge checks and instructional videos to guide the learner on how to use the online attendance software—and uses branching to provide content specific for primary or high school teachers.
